Nilah Ate the Blog

Illustration, books, and baking… probably

This Friday is my last day on Disney Junior’s Ariel, the production I’ve been working on for the past two and a half years. As of next Monday, I’ll be on the job market! I decided to jot down a list of things I’ll finally have time to do once I’m unemployed.
  • cleaning the house
  • weeding the garden
  • redesigning my author website
  • creating new work portfolios
  • writing a novel
  • making personal art
  • building shelves in the shed
  • writing pilot scripts for my screenwriting portfolio
  • getting UX certified
  • updating my blog on a regular schedule
  • recording and editing YouTube videos
  • taking the dogs for more walks in the park
  • teaching Hearth (the dog) tricks
  • teaching Blaze (the cat) tricks
  • teaching my five-year-old niece (the human) tricks
  • designing merch to sell at cons and markets
  • starting an adult volleyball club and then pitching a graphic novel about starting an adult volleyball club
  • building a greenhouse
  • throwing parties
  • finally finishing Persona 5
  • making focaccia from scratch
  • (re)learning to sew
  • volunteering at the old folks home and forming a meaningful relationship with a former dancer named Gladys who’s lived a life
  • drawing new storyboards and animatics
  • overnight oats??? (google this)
  • getting to #1 on the slither.io leaderboard, it’s over for them bros
  • fist fighting every single mosquito
  • napping
(this is not an exhaustive list)

A two-panel illustrated comic. First panel depicts the back of a woman's head. She has shoulder-length hair and a piece of paper on her forehead, and she is looking up as if at the blog post above. In the second panel, the woman has turned. The paper on her forehead reads EDITOR. She is looking at a woman with short hair wearing a T-shirt that reads NAUGHTY AUTHOR. The other is running away from the editor. Editor says: Hey, why isn't your graphic novel up there? Author says: it's implied!
