Yay a food post! It looks like it was delicious :D Also glad to hear you're able to spend some time on your comics along with your job - it is really hard for me to juggle that. ALSO MIXED BERRY PIE. If you come up with a good recipe, please share! :9

Amalia: I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. :( But you have a great point... I often tell myself the same thing. I'm often debating, with situations like these, are things not going my way because I'm not being proactive enough? Or is it because I'm being directed on a different path? It's hard to tell, so I always try to go with the flow. Right now I'm wishing I was in Cali working a studio job, but maybe there's something even better that I'm heading toward. So... I guess we'll see... eventually, haha.

Wayne: Thanks dude. :) LOL oh yes, I've seen those Las Vegas casino game listings too (I can't believe EVERY game position in Nevada is for casino games... way to live the stereotype, guys). Ahhh Wayne, so full of pluck and moxie. But you're right. And what's that saying... whatever doesn't kill you just makes you stronger. :p

My dear sweet Nilah, I feel you on every front. I've been cash strapped as well and while I won't go into the the abyss of hate and discontent so to speak I can understand. Misery loves company so I can tell you sister girl you got it with me lol. I'm freelancing a bit and even was going to take a job in Los Vegas at WMS Gaming as a "Principle Artist" (Casino Gaming). Like you I see our friends getting jobs and "living the dream" and I was tired of college so I contemplated just working and leaving school alone, but like Amalia said, things happen for a reason and although at the time it may not some like it, most times for the best. Keep your head up and don't let life kick you down too much. One thing I learned in the Service was "adapt and overcome" and I believe in that. Things don't always go the way I want them to but, like you mentioned, you have to just find different ways and different avenues to try and accomplish your goals. The trick is just keep moving even when it looks like your still the only one grasping for straws. I totally get it. When I couldn't afford Ringling anymore I felt I had failed, when I took a trip to San Fran for college, only to have to come back to VA (For a variety of circumstances - including death in the family) I felt horrible again. Luckily I'm stubborn and a ridiculously optimistic dreamer. You're a supremely awesome talent, make no mistake that it will only be a matter of time for you. Me on the other hand... I'll be famous and content Maybe when I'm 60 still trying to be a concept artist lol. Hey I type novels too, but I just wanted to let you know that I understand and miss you. It'll happen for you, just put in a good word for chumps like me still trying to knock on doors.

Weird... sorry about that. Those images were hosted on my school account, and for some reason that folder was deleted. No worries - I've moved the files, so that shouldn't happen again. Thanks for the heads up. :)

I always believe that there is a reason things happen to you. Even if it sounds silly.. kinda like those stories that go like "if I hadn't been late for my flight then I wouldn't be alive right now" dramatic, I know.. or for me personally my fiance was going to MI for a weekend and for whatever reason or no real reason at all I decided not to go with him. That weekend my grandpa died and I was able to go to his house and be with him and tell him I loved him one last time. So who the heck knows why you're not at a studio, but in a few years you might look back and be like, wow I woulda never have (met the love of my life, gotten THIS job, etc) if I had gotten another job straight outta college.

OMG! Thank you Nilah, I thought I was the only one that felt that way about this new film. Everything in the cartoon was Asian (Japanese, Chinese, Inuit, etc). I'm not saying an other than asian character couldn't have played these roles, but geesh I don't think they tried to even look for all the very capable asian actors. Just my rant.

BTW Awesome painting I don't think she looks too old, just right in my opinion as far as the Inuit look about her - if you can, add a little bit more fullness to the face (puffier cheeks) if you want to further create the illusion of youth

LOL thanks guys! :)

Kendra: That's exactly the process I used, just digitally instead of traditionally. It's a mix of straight reference and from my head. I watched some videos on Youtube of fencing duels (some competitive, some theatrical) and a few photos to give me a jumping off point and went from there.

Robert: Haha stupid Ringling, I was so antsy when I got home. But I'm also trying to add more stuff to my portfolio (especially since I'm not working right now... might as well draw). Pondering playing a bit with modeling and rigging too once I get Maya working....
